Summer Youth League 2016
Way back 2016, it was my first to join our Summer Youth League in our barangay. It was quite difficult to adjust from street plays towards the formal setting of game. But my determination and willingness to play and learn did not stop me from joining the team. Knowing that there are people who believes in me and in my capability with my God given talent to play volleyball. Since it was first time, I was assigned at the position of opposite hitter (at a high level, usually there is one setter on the court at a time and the person across from them on the court is called the “opposite” or “right side”. If there are two setters, the one in the front row plays as a right side hitter or one will sub out for a right side hitter.) Luckily, together with the strength and guidance of our team, our unity brought us to the victory of success! It was such a great and memorable experience for a first timer.

VAC 2016
So, here’s my second league which is the VAC (Villamor Athletic Club) I joined this league with the same year in SYL. I was already in the position of quicker (a defensive shot in volleyball made by putting the hands together and making contact with the volleyball overhead. A spike or attack that requires a lot of force from the arm, and a very high jump. The ball is hit steeply downwards from the point of contact, and is very difficult to receive) because I was able to enhance my skills during our ODL. Then, we used to be the “underdog” of the teams that time. We tried our best and did everything we can. With that, we went at rank 1 because we don’t have any loses in the game. At championship, it was a tough battle between the veterans who are already in the field of volleyball for so long than my experience. But we used it as our motivation to win that game. Our hard work and perseverance leads to become the champion of VAC and fortunately I was awarded as one of the mythical 6 of the said association. How blessed I am that day!

Patriots
During summer, our coach in summer youth league saw how hardworking I am and my willingness to learn in the field of volleyball. So, he offered me to train at the school where is he working as a coach which is at Philippine Women’s University. Then, I accepted his offer immediately and trained at the said school. By that, I was able not just to deepen my understanding and skills when it comes in sport but also I was able to meet new friends and teammates who also turned into my family as well. By that, I was also able to make my vacation worthy and full of experience and learnings.
Unfinished Business
I started my journey as a student-athlete when I was in grade 11 senior high school here at STI Global City. Since it was my first time to be a student-athlete, I really had a hard time to balance my academics and passion, it seemed like I had the difficult time to adjust but I and my team gave our best but maybe it was not our time. Unfortunately, we did not make it in our sportsfest. Then, I had my second year as a student-athlete. That time, I have this mind set to win that game in our second time around. We really gave our excellent performance and spent more time and effort in our trainings. Fortunately, with the contribution and team work, we did it! We are the champion of the sportsfest. Lastly, I am grateful and honored to be awarded as the season’s mvp, best open spiker and MVP. And that’s how I made my senior high school student-athlete journey remarkable.
Keep Going
I am the type of person who is very goal-oriented, a dreamer, a learner, and a person who is willing to do and sacrifice everything just to achieve his goals in life. My passion in volleyball is just unexplainable. It does not matter to me if I sweat a lot, if I may feel any pain in my body and if I lose or win the game.
I am here because I love and happy with what I am doing and I will continue to strive hard to reach my goals as a volleyball play and I will never stop aiming and achieving for what I want in life and where I want to play.

WITH HIS STRENGTH AND GUIDANCE
